About Dee Clemmons
The Honorable Dometrice “Dee” Clemmons is a Spelman College Graduate and a Certified Executive and Business Coach. Dee has been a successful business owner and operator since 1993. She embarked on her journey into entrepreneurship as a daycare owner with more than ten locations for 27 years. She is the co-owner of the Broadway Performing Arts Studio with her daughter India, where they have been in business since 2010. She also owns the janitorial supply company DCL Public and Private Solutions, which proved to be resilient during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. She is a multi-unit franchisee owner of Painting with A Twist. Dee is a transformational leader who is passionate about the betterment of her community and small businesses. In 2017
Dee self-funded a small business incubator The Workspace Boutique, where she helped other small business owners and startups by consulting, helping them gain access to funding and office space. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic Dee successfully used her franchisee of Painting with A Twist to help raise money for several struggling nonprofits. The most prominent of her gift being The Susan G Komen paint the town pink event.
This Painting with A Purpose emerged during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and took root as a special philanthropic effort for Dee during the pandemic.
Dee is a tireless giver and in 2015 Dee founded She STEAMS Foundation, a non-profit established for young girls in the community whether they had a love for arts or science, if they ever lacked resources these young girls would have the support of She STEAMS. In June, She STEAMS boated of raised over $50k per year and awarding over $20,000 in scholarships to local high school students during the Annual Fundraising events. Dee was awarded as Georgia’s Commissioner of the year and is presently serving in her second term. She is responsible for planting Henry County’s first ever Boys and Girls Club, allocated funding for the Bear Creek senior and recreation center and hosts annual toy drives for the children and teens of Henry County’s Department of Children and Family services. She has exhibited the strength of her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic when she organized multiple food and sanitation supply drives that included testing and vaccinations for the families of Henry County. Dee has shown through the years that she is a selfless servant leader and business woman who advocates for the success of her community.
